…oh, did I mention Lux was back and all that ranting has gone to pass? πŸ˜€ (I still don’t have TERRA though D:)

Anyway, yeah. This remix served as a warmup song for me to get back into composing like I always did before that one month without it. (although I’m not sure if I needed it…this is the first actual song of mine done in one day and without a beta…I mean, look) The reason why this remix came into existence is actually kinda funny…someone commented on Core Oppression’s YouTube video that my remix had a part in it that sounded like a Touhou 5 song called Infinite Being, which is the theme of Shinki, the last boss of that game. I searched it myself, and found out that besides the song being awesome, the original part I made in Core Oppression did indeed sound very much like a part from Infinite Being! Take note that I made Core Oppression way before I even knew what Touhou was or how its soundtrack sounded like, so…whoa. Cool. XD

So yeah. I used a modified Fur Elisa template to make this so anything I’ve learned within a month without Lux is yet to be heard. πŸ˜€ Newgrounds and YouTube video to be added once uploaded.

Holy..You did this in ONE day?!
I wish I could create a remix that quickly, then again I’m new to the field so I guess it’s to be expected.
I was introduced to Touhou the same way you were, through Infinite Being’s comparison to Core Oppression. And now I’m hooked on the music and their Fighting Games. (Because I can’t play the danmaku games if my life depended on it >_>)
I hope you do more Touhou mixes in the future as well.

PS. Any advice to a novice music arranger?
My program is Cubase 5 Essentials
(Because I had little funds to purchase the full edition outright)
I hope to hear more from you soon musically and hopefully in response. Thanks again for your great song!

    • I’ve been on the remixing field for some years now. And before that I’ve been teaching myself music ever since 2002 I think. Just turned 17 last Valentine’s πŸ˜€

I knew Touhou as a danmaku series of games, that like you, I wouldn’t be able to play if my life depended it. XD Nice, so you played Cave Story too, or just happened to stumble upon Core Oppression? And yeah, I might want to try the fighting games too in the future besides the fact that the music will be awesome. And about more Touhou remixes; that depends purely on if I actually find another track that I’d like to remix. Some of them are fine as is, but those which are underrated…I’ll handle it. ;D

Well, I guess you just really have to listen, be inspired and experiment. My first songs are drastically different compared to my current ones after all, except my originals which always retain my original composing style. ^^ Anyway, do that repeatedly and I’m sure you’ll get better at it! It is important to always love and enjoy what you listen to and by integrating it in your original style you’ll end up with masterpieces. =)

      • Thanks for the advice Rtnario!
I’ll be turning 18 this march, so I guess I’m older than you. o_O
It’s kinda odd in my mind as though I’ve immersed myself in music and remixes since at very least the year 2000, I haven’t learned until recently how to create. Heck, my previous schooling in music wasn’t all that great and since my new schooling I’ve learned to play the Bass Guitar and Keyboard fairly well since last September despite no lessons in either beforehand and my lessons being just teaching me specific chords and notes for songs.
(at least if I have the score in notation, haven’t tried ear training) I guess I always had a passion for music but never had a chance to display it or learn to play before. I’ve been told I learn quickly despite having so little instruction. Sorry that I’m rambling.

I’ve not only played Cave Story but I’ve gotten the best ending in it, I did stumble upon Core Oppression but I stumbled upon it here after I heard War and enjoyed it and found it on the front page of this blog the next morning. I must say that I really enjoy your remixes and the style that you employ, I could hear your songs and tell they’re yours’ without anything but the track, It’s very unique.
I actively search for music to listen to and tend to remain around Video Game music and remixes mostly, If I had to recommend an underrated game for you to do, I’d pick Lufia probably. For Touhou; I think Hourai Victim~Extend Ash from (Touhou 8) Imperishable Night could benefit from you as could Catastrophe in Bhava-agra ~ Wonderful Heaven and Locked Girl ~ The Girl’s Secret Room: both from (Touhou 10.5) Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, Emotional Skyscraper ~ Cosmic Mind: (Touhou 12 Unidentified Fantastic Object and Voile, the Magic Library from (Touhou 12.3) Hisoutensoku
…And some old PC98 ones too: Complete Darkness (Mima’s Theme) from (Touhou 2)Story of Eastern Wonderland and Reincarnation (Mima’s Theme) from (Touhou 3)Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream.

Wow. That’s a lot. Hope I haven’t given you too much to look into. Happy Music Hunting!

PS. From what I’ve heard Immaterial and Missing Power has blocky controls so just look up it’s music, SWR and most recently 12.3 Hisoutensoku are amazing. Just utterly fluid motion and control, and the music in both are wonderful. 12.3 isn’t translated yet though.
I guess I’ll have to invent my own style as I go on. πŸ˜€
        Sorry for the long post.
