About Me – Personal Information

Well, hello there. I’m Ramon. Once upon a time, a lover of cars, guns and architecture. Now a Computer Science major at the Ateneo de Manila University, a composer, a remixer, a ( bad ) singer, lover of my girlfriend, food and all things cute and fluffy.

As a child, I think my favorite word back then was “innovate”. Aside from playing on toy xylophones and making a career out of my first wind instrument, the recorder, I was also an electronics engineer attaching little battery-operated electric fans to caps and Christmas lights to toy racing cars. It was only when I grew up where I started to realize that my passion had more to do with music than it did electricity. I started playing a number of instruments but am also not technically proficient with any of them, which is why I had a special drive in order to find out how to compose music without being limited by my physical capabilities. This is where the 14-year old me decided to discover how to sequence his own MIDIs, and that started me down the path of digital music composition changing the way I was to live out my passion forever.

Today, I spend my time listening to music I love composed mostly of but not limited to European power metal and — big surprise — video game music, playing a good FPS from time to time or more likely emulating something on my portable devices, taking photography regardless of my lack of a DSLR, watching hockey with my brother and cheering on the Detroit Red Wings or the Toronto Maple Leafs, enjoying all manners of delicious steaks and more often than any of these, living, breathing and reflecting on life.

If you want to know more, I’m always around on Facebook. If you also have an interesting request or proposition for me, my e-mail’s right there and we’ll see what we can do.

Otherwise, that’s kinda boring. If you bother to know more about me then surely I’d be interested in knowing you back, eh? πŸ˜‰

  1. Hi Blackiris,
How can I follow your blog? I think it is interesting. I stumbled here while I was searching for True Remembrance OSTs (Just finished it. And I absolutely LOVE it!) Mind you, what is LEAF XCEED anyway? It seems a game and such.

    La (
    Nah! Wishful thinking!)
    it’s Leah. πŸ™‚

    • LA?! Oh. Hi Leah. πŸ˜€ (wishful thinking indeed ^^)

Your asking about a subscription made me realize that I made it so that there’s no way to do so. Whoops. So if you look at the lowest section of the sidebar to the right, you’ll now see an e-mail subscription widget! Thanks for reminding me! (although if you were looking for RSS subscriptions, I can also do that)

Yes, True Remembrance is AWESOME. That’s why I make “Blackiris” my avatar on WordPress, my username everywhere and of course, also why I have the soundtrack available in my blog. It’s just one of the most simple yet beautiful soundtracks ever created…in the best free Visual Novel ever created. πŸ™‚

LEAF XCEED is my personal “title” (it’s also a group or a company) that I use as a name whenever I make anything related to music, computers and others. That’s why my songs are all by LEAF XCEED Music Division, which basically is me, but there are others like LEAF XCEED Technology Division on deviantART. LEAF XCEED is me and anyone else who’d like to help. ^^

      • Wow, I’m sorry for a very very very late reply! (I wasn’t noticed – -,”) It’s good to have a personal title. ^^ Actually, I have my personal “name” too. but it’s silly so don’t ask. πŸ˜€ And oh, so you’re into music too? that’s great!
I see you’ve been so busy with all the stuff..

Let me tell you a secret before I finish. KABABAYAN! Pilipino din po ako! haha! :))

    • 5-month-15-day-late reply. XD But it’s fine, I use this blog all the time! Yep, that’s my personal title, and who knows, someday in the future it may be something universally recognized. I’m not just “into music”, it’s my LIFE; I live, breathe, compose and appreciate music πŸ˜€

Filipino as well, huh? XD Look out Leah, someday in the future you may see LEAF XCEED…locally. =)

  2. update your band list. XD

  3. My band would really like to use your song winter night’s journey in our album but we need to know the notes (Guitar Tabs, Drum Tabs, ect…) and we will make sure to give you credit for writing the song it’s a really good song and we would like to know what notes each instrument plays or how you composed the song because this song is amazing.
    ~from everyone in Mercy Killshot

    • I’m sorry, but after much thought put into it, I cannot agree to your proposal. This song is a very important original composition of mine, and I’d like to keep it that way, I’m sure you’d understand with your own originals. Thank you for considering it though, but once again I’m sorry I can’t agree. v_v

  4. …cool, so

…you now need to also be backing vocals for No Dignity so we won’t be a combo breaker 8D 8D 8D

  5. hello~
I’m love to hear your remixed music, especially Fur Elise and Greener Greens.
And I’m surprised that you even remix old games ost.

Anyway, you can try hear some of (if you know) Yggdra Union ost. A gba and psp strategy game. I try find its remix, but rarely to be seen. If you interested, you can try remix the song, if you wish to.

And, have a nice day and may God bless you.

    Sorry for bad english. :3

    • Thank you for listening! There’s a certain magical charm in the soundtracks of old games which I absolutely cannot find in the soundtracks of today. That’s why I remix what I do πŸ˜‰

Maybe if I try playing the game I’ll consider remixing its music if I really like the soundtrack. πŸ™‚

  6. Hi, love your music and your philosophies. Couple questions: is all of your work usable? Specifically I’m curious about Questionable Origin on the Fragment of Time album. Also, is that an original song by you or a remix? Either way it’s stunning.

    • Hello, thanks for dropping by. It’s not everyday I get a comment on my thoughts instead of my music πŸ™‚

Hmm, usable in the sense that they can be used in any non-profit project, or at least I specifically have to be notified whether there is profit of any sort so I can judge whether to allow it or not. Questionable Origin is an original, and if you want to use it, my only requirement is proper credit. Thank you for the kind words!
