Well, this one certainly took awhile to get out. This piece was greatly inspired by Hirofumi Sasaki, who contributed compositions to the music rhythm game series GuitarFreaks/DrumMania. His songs like The Least 100sec, Timepiece Phase II, and Concertino in Blue, left such an incredible impression of awesome progressive-piano-rock music that I’ve never heard prior. To me, they are still to this day examples of the perfect fusion of melodic catchiness and technical prowess, and how I only wish he would return to the limelight in one way or another, just so I could hear more of his work.

Somewhere down the line I started seriously listening to Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, and found out that he pretty much created his own impressions of Karn Evil 9 to end up with those tracks, but no matter how amazing Karn Evil 9 is, Sasaki’s works will still be my preferred interpretation of it. They have, do, and will forever hold a special place in my musical journey.

This is my tribute to his works. Nowhere as close, but it was a good try.
