DualBlade – Kraid’s Lair (Metroid Remix)

Trying to ship off some of my backlog whilst I still have some momentum from Storm Eagle!

This one has been with me for awhile, and according to the project file I’ve had this concept since April 23 of this year. Not sure how I got around to making this, but it’s probably related to the fact that a few months back I tried playing some games from the Metroid series. Well, if we were to include the present, I was able to finish Metroid: Zero Mission, Super Metroid, and Metroid Fusion. Very recently I also finished the new one, Metroid: Samus Returns, and before that played a little of AM2R. Safe to say I was hooked, and I’m still looking towards playing the DS and GC entries.

Metroid: Zero Mission was my first encounter of Metroid. Something I noted in that game was the soundtrack was much more focused on ambience and creating moods. That’s another way of saying it wasn’t very melodically-charged (which isn’t a bad thing). The one track that did stand out was of course, the track I remixed, Kraid’s Lair. That one was pretty much the opposite of how I just described the soundtrack — it’s a very short and simple track but it’s significantly more melodic and catchy than the rest.

So it ended up with me snooping around for a remix. I think the Metroid series in general doesn’t get much love, and while there were some Kraid’s Lair remixes already out there, they didn’t highlight the points of the song I wanted emphasized. What else would I do in that case?

As always, enjoy! Short and in a loop-able fashion.
