LEAF XCEED Music Division – Peter’s Kite

Now here’s a surprise for the minority of the countrymen who actually listen to my music 😀 It’s an arrangement of what could be considered either OPM (Original Philippine Music) or a folk song from the country I was born and reside in, the Philippines. Even though I honestly don’t pay much attention to my own culture, as someone who loves music, this song is one that I’ll never forget that was part of my childhood. Its original title was Saranggola Ni Pepe by Celeste Legaspi, which in English means, big surprise, Peter’s Kite.

The original song has so much backstory in it, relating to how much the Philippines suffered under Ferdinand Marcos’ reign. But it was all cleverly symbolized in failsafe lyrics that made it seem otherwise…and of course, a very happy, calming melody. It seemed like the perfect thing to finish after creating the monster that is The Eclipse Of Time. Even to those who don’t understand its backstory, I hope you enjoy this acoustic arrangement!
